“In commemoration of the centenary of the death of the illustrious Portuguese painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, the exhibition 'Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso: 100 Years – 100 Artists' brought together the 100 best Portuguese artists for a group show, organized by the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Gallery, at the Municipal Museum of Espinho, a city where the painter used to spend his time. This work is a representation inspired by a photograph of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso taken in 1907, in Paris, France, next to a sculpture by his friend, the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. The best way to pay tribute to an illustrious figure in the world of arts is, without a doubt, to preserve his image, remembering his contribution and his importance as a member of the generation of Portuguese modernist painters.”
