Making of “stories da Casinha minutes of reading”
The children's book publisher Minutes of Reading presented a charming novelty at the Lisbon Book Fair 2024: the Little House Reading Minutes. It was a privilege to create this object for a children's space, painted in vibrant primary colors — yellow, blue and red — it was designed to attract and engage children, providing them with a playful and welcoming environment.
In addition to serving as a recreational area, the little house serves as a setting for storytelling sessions, led by experienced narrators hired by the publisher. This initiative aims to enrich the experience of young readers, encouraging a taste for reading and imagination.
The Casinha Minutos de Leitura will be present at future editions of the Lisbon Book Fair, consolidating itself as a meeting point for families and lovers of children's literature. This project had the collaboration of the studio and restorer Jorge Fonte, who contributed to the creation of this magical space where stories come to life.
Mounting system and resistance
A Little House Reading Minutes It was designed as a mobile structure, using marine plywood to simplify transportation and assembly on site. This material was selected due to its robustness and durability, which are essential to withstand intensive use by children.
The design focused on ease of transport and speed of assembly, culminating in a simple fitting system that requires only 11 security screws to reinforce the structure. This solution ensures efficient assembly and practical disassembly, allowing the playhouse to be easily moved and installed at various events.
The use of marine plywood not only provides the necessary strength for frequent use, but also offers protection against adverse environmental conditions, extending the life of the structure. This material is widely recognized for its moisture resistance and dimensional stability properties, making it ideal for mobile constructions subject to different conditions of use.
In short, the assembly system of the Minutos de Leitura House combines high-quality materials with an intelligent design, resulting in a resistant structure that is easy to assemble and suitable for children.
